With nearly the whole squad available next year the future looks bright.

The U12 girls travelled to Beeston on a cold blustery day for a tough regional competition.

Team:
Sophie Bennett (GK)
Gemma Freeman
Georgia Brophy
Ilana Jacobs
Issy Jaszczun
Lucy Tanser
Molly McBride
Poppy Smart

The girls played 3 group matches against Ashby, Worcester & Rugby in which they unfortunately lost all the games despite putting up a good battle and showed improvement in each game. (0-4, 0-2 & 0-3 respectively)

They were then in the playoffs for a position 9 to 16. Next they were up against Litchfield who they also lost to 0-3, This was then followed by playing Leicester which they were very unlucky to lose 0-1.

The final game was against Telford playing off for 15th/16th place. Kettering went down 0-1 but were determined to fight back and scored a goal through Poppy Smart to equalize with only a minute to go. The game finished 1-1. At this point the organisers said that we could take the draw and finish joint 15th but to the oppositions dismay the Kettering girls were having non of that and wanted to take it to the usual penalties. Our superstar goalkeeper Sophie Bennett (who had had a great day so far) saved 2 of the 3 penatlies and we scored 2 of our 3 to win the match. Finishing on a high!

The girls were a credit to Kettering showing great team spirit.

Many thanks to coaches Julia Telford & Emma Storey, Umpire Nathan Thomas and all the parents for their support not only today but throughout the season.
