Kettering Vintage 3-0 Chesterfield Vintage

Kettering played host to Chesterfield in Round 1 of the EH Over 50s Trophy. Chesterfield arrived in a fun bus so top marks so far.

The game started at a leisurely over 50s pace with Chesterfield happy to keep possession while Kettering looked to go forward. A largely uneventful first half saw the game goalless but with the hosts having the better chances. An inspirational half time talk by skipper Tony Heath saw Kettering increase the pressure on the Chesterfield goal. Chances came and went until a breakdown short corner saw Neil Freeman on hand to apply the finishing touch. Freeman was again on the spot to but the game beyond doubt as he turned home a Tom Sellers cross. In the final minute Kettering applied the coup de grace when a neatly worked short corner saw Heath find Paul Brooker who fired home the third.

Kettering now eagerly await the draw for round 2.
