At a windy KLV Kettering's Over 50s hosted England LX, which is the over 60s. The game was played over four twenty minute periods. The skilful LX side were comfortable in possession but Kettering's (relatively) younger players had a bit more pace. Tom Ward opened the scoring when he forced a mistake from LX's otherwise excellent goalkeeper. In the second stanza Paul Brooker scored from a short corner move after a precise Nick Cusk pass. Brooker scored again in the third quarter following a breakaway and as LX tired Kettering took a stranglehold on the game. Keeper Barry Coe was called on to make one smart save but Kettering were otherwise untroubled. Neil Freeman completed the scoring with the last hit of the game.
An enjoyable friendly was followed by a meal and speeches by both captains. Thanks to Mrs Brooker for catering and Nathan for umpiring.
