Kettering beat local rivals.

A summer friendly played in perfect conditions and in a great spirit saw Kettering comfortably beat local rivals Bedford. Kettering looked like a team that played together regularly and some quality passing opened Bedford up a number of times prior to Geoff Elliott making the breakthrough. Bedford hit back immediately but Kettering were not to be denied and further goals from Scott Mulligan and a collectors item from Phil Rowbotham but the hosts in a commanding 3-1 half time lead.
With the pace of the game at best leisurely Kettering had time in the second half to enjoy possession and Tim McDowell was guilty of missing a couple of chance to extend the lead. Mulligan eventually scored to really put the game to bed but the host hit back with a goal two minutes from time to narrow the score. Kettering saw out the rest of the game.
Players retired to the bar where they were treated to an excellent seafood paella courtesy of ex Kettering star Ian ‘Chits’ Chitty. Such was the success of the game Kettering are looking to host a return fixture before the season proper starts.
