Tony’s merry band march on into the quarter finals as they rather comfortably dispatched Banbury in the last 16.
With only the injured Nick Cusk unable to travel Kettering took 14 genuine club members to play North Oxfordshire’s premier Club.
Having withstood some early pressure Kettering eased themselves into the game and started to look the better team. Driven on by Ludwig Roder and Scott Mulligan in midfield Kettering started to create chances. A run by Tom Sellers deep into the left corner ended up with a short corner to the visitors. Neil Freeman’s shot was initially saved but popped up off the keeper where Sellers was on hand to volley it home. Freeman doubled the lead from a short corner to send Kettering into the break two to the good.
The second half saw Banbury apply plenty of pressure but could not find a way through and had Kettering been a bit more careful with their final ball the result could have been more emphatic.
Kettering will eagerly await the draw this week to see who waits in the quarter finals.
