Kettering 2nds prepared for a tough game against second place Daventry with plenty of defensive work at training. Daventry a strong attacking side had beaten Kettering comfortably in both their league games the previous season. Kettering found they could build on their well organised and structured defence to launch a number attacks of their own. A diving save by keeper Amy March continued to keep Daventry at bay and Kettering found themselves with a chance to take the lead when a shot from Michelle Tanser hit a Daventry defender on the line. Shez Coe coolly converted the penalty stroke despite the Daventry keeper trying to delay its taking. Kettering continued to press and Tanser was rewarded with a goal of her own when Coe slipped her the ball from a short corner and she slotted it home. Kettering knew Daventry would come out fighting in the second half and Kettering found themselves dropping deeper and deeper into defence. Daventry were rewarded for their pressure with two goals in a minute to equal the score. Kettering however were not willing to give up that easily and with player of the match Louise Martin continuing to dominant down the right hand side Kettering had chances to claim the victory. The game finished 2-2 with Kettering feeling pleased with their afternoons work. Kettering travel to Wellingborough next week for a 1.00pm start against Wildcatz.
