Kettering 2nds v Grammarians

Kettering 2nds made it four wins in a row with a convincing win over local rivals Grammarians. Kettering started strongly with goals from Louise Martin finishing off a fine one two with Michelle Lee and Michelle Tanser slotting home a short corner. Kettering however gave the Grammarians forwards far too much space and they scored two goals to tie the scores at half time. Kettering restructured at during the break and man to man marking of the Grammarians forwards by Sophie Smart and Martin in the second half restricted them to just the one goal from a short corner strike in the second half while Kettering had the confidence to attack freely and goals were plentiful and shared with Kirsty Smith, Shez Coe, Meg Forader and Lee all getting on the score sheet before Tanser doubled her tally with a second short corner strike with the last hit of the game. Martin received the man of the match award for her fine attacking display in the first half and her disciplined defensive performance in the second. Kettering host Northampton Saints 2nds in the final game of the first round of matches.
