Ringrose scores 1st half hat trick to seal victory and man of the match performance
Isabel Ringrose scored a 18 minutes first half hat trick to set the scene for the 2nd v 3rd team inter club match. The 2nd team started strongly with Ringrose rampant in front of goal. Natalie Brinkman, the 3rd team goal keeper made a number of fine saves to keep the 2nds at bay but eventually Louise Martin broke down the right to fire home to make it 4-0. Ringrose then crossed for Kirsty Smith to get her first. Sue Russell slotted home from a short corner before Smith got her second to make the score 7-0 at half time. The second half saw Kettering 3rds come out strongly with excellent defending by Beth Hardy and Laura Newlyn ensuring the 2nds attacks were halted and that the 3rds team had much more of the ball and initiated a number of attacking opportunities. The 2nd teams defence stood firm with Emma Story completing another solid game as right back. Eventually the 2nd team broke the 3rd team defence with Russell scoring an almost identical goal to her first from a short corner. Smith then scored the best goal of the game, deflecting home a pin point cross from Michelle Tanser, and completing her hat trick. Final score 9-0 and a great preparation game for the league season which starts in a couple of weeks.
