Kettering 2nds 1 - 3 Saints 2nds

Kettering 2nds lost 3-1 to a young well drilled Saints 2nds team. Saints started strongly and put Kettering under immediate pressure. Kettering struggled to keep them at bay and after Laura Beswick had made a couple of fine saves Saints took the lead. Kettering responded well and started to build up a few attacks of their own, while staying firm in defence. The second half continued in the same way with Kettering and Saints both creating chances but unable to convert them. Kettering had a number of short corners but failed to convert and it was from one of these that Saints gained possession and broke. Two passes later they were in on goal and the score was 2-0. Kettering continued to press forwards and were eventually rewarded when Ellie Darnell found Shez Coe in space at the top of the D. Coe passed to Kirsty Smith who's initial shot was saved by the keeper. Smith ensured her second shot found the back of the net as she lifted the ball in. With 2 minutes to go Kettering pushed forward for the equaliser and Saints exploited the space to secure their victory with a third goal. Kettering travel to Northampton on Saturday to play Saints 3rds.
