Kettering 2nds 6-1 Grammarians

Kettering Ladies 2nds travelled to bottom of the table Grammarians on Saturday determined to put in a better performance after losing the week before to second to bottom Earls Barton. From the very start they displayed all that had been missing the week before and within two minutes captain Shez Coe had fired them into the lead. Leading goal scorer Kirsty Smith then double the lead with a reverse stick shot and Michelle Tanser made it three, all within the first eight minutes. Grammarians then rallied and despite Kettering piling on the pressure down the left with Sue Russell and right with Helen Keyworth they stood firm until half time. The second half saw Kettering attacking freely with man of the match Isabel Ringrose creating many chances for her team mates. Tanser and Smith were both reward with a second goal each. Tanser from a straight strike and Smith with a clever deflection from a short corner routine. Keyworth rounded off a fine performance with a goal giving Kettering six. Grammarians got a well deserved goal back of their own during the second half as a reward for their persistence and determination throughout the game. Kettering travel to Daventry on Saturday for a rearranged game that was postponed due to ice a couple of weeks ago before having a well deserved Christmas break.
