Kettering Ladies 2nds travelled over to Oundle for an early morning start. The first half play was evenly spread with both teams having opportunities to attack and create chances. It was Oundle who struck first with a goal to take the lead. Kettering's top scorer and birthday girl, Kirsty Smith, then had a chance to equal the score taken from her from the Oundle keeper who rushed out to meet her at the top of the D. Oundle continued to press forward to get their second but this allowed Kettering to attack on the break and Smith did eventually tie the score before half time when she this time rounded the Oundle keeper at the top of the D and then fired home for one of the best goals of her 29 she has scored this season. The second half saw Oundle come forwards in numbers and put Kettering under pressure at the back. Keeper Amy March was called into action a number of times and made some important saves befor giving away a penalty stroke for taking the player out after clearing the ball. March stood firm in goal and made an excellent penalty save with her hand. Kettering built on this and when Ellie Darnell found Shez Coe on the top of the circle after a fine run down the wing, Coe beat the defender before slotting the ball to the far post for Smith to get her more trade like second. Oundle however were never going to give up and got a deserved second from a short corner to equal the scores. Final score 2-2. Kettering host top of the table Daventry at home on Saturday at 10.30am.
