Kettering Ladies 2nds 0 - 7 Daventry

Kettering Ladies 2nds found themselves 2-0 down early on in their game against league leaders Daventry. However when Kirsty Smith was brought down and a penalty was awarded Kettering had a great chance to get back in the game. Captain Shez Coe stepped up to take it but saw her strong flick excellently saved by the Daventry keeper! The second half saw Kettering settle much better in the game, but a head injury to Kettering's keeper Amy March meant that Kettering has to see out the last 25 minutes of the game with a kicking back. Although Kettering continued to push forward when they could it was Daventry who were now in the driving seat. They put Kettering under pressure in the D and with Kettering down to nine players at one stage, with Louise Storey receiving a second yellow card in three weeks and Sophie Smart off the pitch with a green card, it was difficult to stop the onslaught. Daventry scored three goals in quick succession to make it 5-0. Kettering continued to push forward despite this and came close on a couple of occasions. However Daventry finished with two more goals resulting in a 7-0 win. Daventry ran out deserved winners but Kettering felt that 7-0 felt very harsh on their performance and effort. Kettering face Earls Barton on Saturday and are hoping to avenge their 1-0 defeat they suffered earlier in the season.
