Strong mid game performance seals win in very local derby.
An early goal by Beth Hardy after 90 seconds stung the 2s into action as the spritely 3s took the game to the 2s. A quick brace by skipper Shez Coe sandwiching a Kirsty Smith effort put the seconds back in charge. Elana Freedman pulled one back for the 3s but further goals by debutant Ellie Darnell and Smith gave a 5-2 score at the break. In very wet conditions both teams tried to play attacking hockey. Natalie Irons claimed the sixth but the 3s never gave up and Katie Woolveridge pulled another back. Smith completed her regulation hat trick and Darnell capped a fine game for the 2s with her second. Evergreen Sandra Mandzuik scored to make it 8-4. A great advert for attacking but the coaches will have some work to do with the defences before league hockey starts. Both teams look in good shape for the forthcoming season.
