Daventry 5 - 0 Kettering 2nds

Kettering 2nds travelled to top of the table Daventry for their final league game before the Christmas break. An unbeaten Daventry team started strongly but Kettering held firm in defence. Chris Rowland-Jones and Louise Storey combined well as sweeper and centre back to help protect keeper Amy March. Kettering built some attacks of their own with man of the match Michelle Tanser controlling things in midfield for Kettering. Sue Russell and Lexi Webb initiated some good play down the left and Isabel Ringrose and Ellie Darnell helped to keep the Daventry defence under pressure. However it was Daventry who eventually got the break through, it what had otherwise been an even game, scoring 2 minutes before half time. The second half saw Daventry double their score straight after the break and this left Kettering with a mountain to climb. They continued to try and build up attacks but Daventry scored three more goals in an eight minute period leaving Kettering feeling deflated with the score line but pleased with the overall performance against such a strong side. Kettering return to action in the New Year.
