Kettering Ladies 2nds allow Wellingborough 1st back in the game.
Kettering Ladies 2nds started the league season with a stunning first half against Wellingborough 1st team who had come down from the Midlands Feeder East League. Ellie Darnell opened the scoring with a deflected shot from a short corner before Shez Coe doubled the lead, tapping in after the Wellingborough keepers saved from a Michelle Tanser shot. Kirsty Smith made it 3 at half time after Tanser carried the ball down the right and then pulled it back for a trademark Smith goal. Wellingborough rallied in the second half and forced Kettering into mistakes and were rewarded with a goal. Kettering came back with a goal of their own when Felicity Goodliffe was on hand at the far post to put the ball over the line from a tight angle. Kettering took their foot of the gas and Wellingborough rattling in three quick goals to set up a grandstand finish. After looking clear winning until 20 minutes to go it was Kettering who were hanging on for a point at the end. Kettering need to iron out mistakes as a team ready for next Saturday when they meet their newly promoted 3rd team, who ran out 4-0 winners in their first league game at this level.
