Kettering Ladies 3rds 0 - 5 Kettering Ladies 2nds

Kettering Ladies 2nd team faced newly promoted Kettering Ladies 3rd team in the league for the first time. The 3rds coming to the match after a fine display in their first league match with a win, while the 2nds could only manage a draw. The game started very evenly with midfield battles being won and lost by both teams. Eventually after a fantastic ball by Jill Livingstone to right midfielder Ellie Darnell an opening occurred. Darnell took on the 3rd team defence before crossing the ball which was eventually put into the back of the net by Shez Coe. The battles continued and it took another fine strike by Darnell herself to make the score 2-0 at half time. The 2nds learnt from last weeks game and pushed on in the second half. Michelle Tanser was dominant in midfield and Louise Storey, Chris Roland- Jones and Sue Russell ensured all 3rd team attacks were snubbed out. The 2nds went on to add three more goals with Coe completing a double and Kirsty Smith and Felicity Goodliffe each scoring. The final score seemed harsh on the 3rd team who played well throughout and showed what a strong position the ladies section are in at the moment. The 2nds face Wootton Wanders 2nds at Bishop Stopford School next Saturday at 10.00am.
