Kettering Ladies 2nds travelled away from their home pitch for the first time this season to face Wootton Wanderers 1st Team. The game was a closely fought contest in which both teams had to dig deep and battle hard. Kettering made the initial break through when captain Shez Coe lobbed the keeper at a short corner. Leaves on the pitch hampered Helen Keyworth in the first half down the right hand side but Kettering pressed on and deserved their 1-0 lead at half time. The second half saw Coe double Kettering’s lead when she slotted home a loose ball. This stirred Wootton into action and they piled on the pressure dominating the midfield for most of the remainder of the game. Only fine defending by Kettering lead by Amy March in goal and man of the match Sue Russell allowed Kettering to limit Wootton to just the one goal. It was Kettering’s best team performance of the season and gives Ketteting confidence ready to take on top of the table Wildcatz next week where they can claim top spot with a win.
