Kettering Ladies 2nds travelled to play Wootton Wanders 2nds and provided a fine attacking display. The final score of eleven felt harsh on a young Wootton side who played some good hockey themselves and were unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Kettering attacked strongly down both the right and left wings with Helen Keyworth and Harriet Drake-Lee supplying excellent crosses for goal scoring opportunities. Kirsty Smith scoring twice and Ellie Darnell and Shez Coe getting a goal each in the firs5 half. The second half saw much of the same with Smith completing her hat trick and then going on to get five in total. Darnell added a second to her tally and Felicity Goodliffe grabbed a second half brace. Michelle a Tanser completed the scoring after a dominant display in midfield was rewarded with a goal of her own. Wootton however were not pinned back in defence throughout the game and Kettering’s keeper Amy March was called upon to make a number of saves to prevent Wootton getting on the score sheet. she was helped out in a solid Kettering’s defence by Emma Storey, Chris Roland-Jones, Louise Storey, Sue Russell and Jill Livingstone. Kettering face Wootton 1st next week, which will provided a stronger test both for their attack and defence.
