Kettering Ladies 2nds claimed victory over Daventry to keep them firmly at the top of the table. With one game to play Kettering have the chance to secure first place when they face Earls Barton next Saturday. Kettering started well with the intention of taking the game to Daventry. Helen Keyworth and Harriet Drake-Lee dominated down the wings and caused Daventry all sorts of problems. Eventually Kettering got the break they deserved when Keyworth fired home to give Kettering the lead. Daventry tried to regroup and push forward but Ketterings defence of Chris Rowland- Jones, Louise Storey, Jill Livingstone, Emma Storey and Sue Russell stood firm and calmly stuffed out everything Daventry threw at them. The second half saw Kettering double their lead almost immediately when Drake-Lee made another run down the wing and played in Kirsty Smith to slot home. Michelle Tanser played a disciplined man of the match performance in midfield controlling play and capped it off with Kettering’s third goal. Kettering saw out the rest of the game to clinch a well deserved victory and a chance to win the league next week.
