Kettering Ladies 2nds 4 - 2 Wildcatz

Kettering Ladies 2nds had a well fought win over local league rivals Wildcatz in their final friendly game before the league starts next week. Kettering started strongly with Jill Livingstone and player of the match Harriet Goswell combining down the right hand side to create chance after chance however Wildcatz defended strongly to keep Kettering out. Eventually Kettering got a breakthough with Shez Coe firing home. They then lost Felicity Goodliffe to an ankle injury and had to regroup, however Wildcatz equalised before half time despite good defending from Kettering's defence, including Laura Newlyn making her debut for the 2nds. The second half saw Wildcatz take the lead, despite Kettering being on the front foot, with a breakaway goal. Kettering kept pushing forward and got their reward when a Coe lob came off the cross bar and Goswell cooly slotted home to equal the score. Kettering continued to pressurise the Wildcatz defence and took the lead when Kirsty Smith beat the keeper from close range. The win was sealed by Michelle Tanser with a cleanly hit shot finding the corner of the goal. Kettering host Wellingborough 1st team on Saturday as the league season begins.
