Kettering Ladies 2nds travelled to play Loughborough Town on Saturday. With just the eleven players Kettering knew it would be tough. The game started with Loughborough attacking strongly down the wings and getting to the baseline to pull the ball back. Kettering found it difficult to keep up with the pace of their forwards and found themselves three nil down after conceding three similar goals in this fashion. All other Loughborough attacks were cool dealt with by keeper Nik Baker. Kettering evetually were rewarded with a short corner and captain Shez Coe lifted the ball into the top corner to give Kettering a goal and a much needed lift. Loughborough continued to push forward and got a fourth before half time. The second half saw Natalie Irons man to man mark Loughboroughâs playmaker and this allowed Kettering to defend more comfortably and start to form a few attacks of their own with Becky Richardson working hard on the right hand side to initiate these. Kettering were disappointed to concede a fifth goal just two minutes before the end, when down to ten players due to an injury, they tired and allowed a Loughborough player to run into the D and fire home. A second half performance that Kettering can be proud of. Kettering face high flyers Reston this Saturday at 11.30am at Bishop Stopford School.
