Match report 30th January 2016
Kettering 3’s vs. Saints 4’s
2-5
On this cold yet sunny afternoon, a pleasant match was enjoyed by both teams, with many examples of promising skilful team work demonstrated especially by Kettering. After several convincing attacking movements from Kettering, unfortunately they were unable to finish it off, and in a moments loss of concentration, Saints succeeded their first goal of the match. From then on, Saints went from strength to strength, with new found confidence, which unfortunately Kettering lost slightly after this goal.
The game was largely played in the middle of the pitch, with some lovely passing ahead and running onto the ball shown, particularly by Sophie Craig (player of the match). Intercepting the ball was also an aspect which was carried out well by Kettering.
Later on, in the second half Saints quickly scored a further three goals. However, Kettering remained positive and after this, Caitlin Curran and Ellie Darnell scored two goals for Kettering bringing the team’s confidence back up again. Although despite their best efforts, they were just not quite able to completely turn the match around in the time left.
The score is not a true reflection of Kettering’s efforts this week, so they must take the positives from this match, and use them in future games. Well done ladies!
