Kettering 3’s vs Rushden and Higham

An excellent win for Kettering was the result of this hard fought match; we began with enthusiasm and were quick to form strong attacking movements, right from the word go. These attacking movements were also supported very well by the midfield. Ellie Darnell demonstrated beautiful skill as she wove through the players to the goal, however unfortunately we were just not quite able to get past Rushden and Higham’s goal keeper.
Soon enough, after a determined shot from Sandra Mandzuik, Kettering were 1-0 up. The opposition then retaliated bringing the score up to 1-1. Kettering then proceeded to have many further shots on goal, and one in particular was a two on one with the goalie, although Rushden and Higham’s defence proved hard to break.
In the second half, we managed to find the holes in their defence and Kettering set up some lovely shots, two of which were solidly finished off by Ellie Darnell whose hard efforts paid off! Unfortunately, in the last two minutes of the match, after a shot on goal by Rushden and Higham, Claire Jones accidentally scored an own goal on a near goal line deflection, but ultimately it didn’t matter as Kettering did still have a secure win!
In this match, Kettering demonstrated some very skilful play with quick passing around the players, and I think it is safe to say that this was a well-deserved win. Well done ladies, let’s keep this up
