With two of the younger members of the team feeling under the weather we did not have high hopes for the result of this game. However it has been proven that in adversity teams often over perform.Kettering began the game with an astonishingly quick push forward, resulting in a beautiful goal from Elana Freedman within the first few minutes. A somewhat startled Wootton then rapidly responded making the match more equal, however we were still 1-0 up.
This excellent start for Kettering gave us confidence which was really positive, and made us more determined to get the ball; for example some lovely interceptions were made by Eleanor Izzard and Sandra Mandzuik. Several short corners were also won by Kettering in the first half, and this continued into the second half, however unfortunately one excellent goal from Beth Hardy was disallowed as it was lifted too high for a short corner.
Wootton also won several short corners, however Kettering’s defence closed them down very efficiently, and allowed us to have some more shots on goal, with Ellie Darnell finishing off another well deserves goal.
Overall this was an excellent effort from Kettering and another well-deserved win. Well done ladies!
