Match report 27th February
Kettering 3’s vs Northampton Saints 3’s
1-5
Kettering fought hard in this game, however rather unfortunately our hard work was not reflected very accurately in the score. We began the game by making some strong attacking movements, taking Saints slightly by surprise; sadly this was only short lived, and Saints quickly turned the game around by closing down the attack and swiftly weaving between our players to make their attack. Undeterred by this, Kettering continued to put up a fight and after a quick break away, Ellie Darnell scored an amazing goal (her golf training comes in handy on the hockey pitch).
In a fast and determined response to this, Saints took some quite aggressive shots which did shock our defence slightly; consequently Saints scored a series of goals in a quite short space of time despite some lovely saves by Laura Beswick (goal keeper). However Kettering did later win a short corner and Beth Hardy scored a thwarting goal from, however it was disallowed due to it being lifted too high.
All in all this was a tough game for Kettering and we had to demonstrate our determination and perseverance, but we did play very well as a team so should be proud of our performance.
