A determined Rushden and Higham side faced Kettering 3rd team,but what should have been an easy game for Kettering turned into a hard fought 2-1 win.
The first half started with promise and an excellent goal scored by two of the youngest players, a fantastic pass from Katie W to go rounded the keeper for Caitlin to knock it home. This spurred on Rushden and Higham and they came back with a surge, Alana and Harriet teamed up well to keep the ball in the opponents half. Score at half time 1-0 in favour of Kettering.
Kettering tired in the second half and with a simple break the defence were left running backwards to help out goalie Natalie, despite a valiant effort Rushden scored their only goal of the game. Julia Telford cane to the rescue in the last 10 mins of the game with a screamer from the top of the D to secure the win for Kettering.
Player of the match went to Eleanor Izzard with her tenacious deafening and attack down the right hand side, a star in the making.
