Kettering 3rd v Kettering 4th
This intra-club game between the 3rd’s and 4th’s was a very even affair and showed how much talent we have within the ladies’ section.
Many thanks to Nik who helped us out in goal and pulled off numerous saves to keep us in contention. She was ably assisted by Carla who, as our sweeper, worked tirelessly throughout the game to clear any stray balls that found there into the “D” past the generally solid defence.
The back line of Mary, Evie and Cheryl certainly had to be at their best to thwart the skilful runs into the “D” by the 4th team forwards and they worked hard and tackled well to clear the ball to their midfield trio.
Kate R (stand in captain) controlled midfield and distributed the ball well to her forwards and mid field colleagues. Nat and Lydia used their speed and fitness to cause problems for the 4th team defence as they passed the ball to our young forwards Ola, Megan and Keira. The youngsters demonstrated great skill and made numerous forays into the 4th team “D”
There were splendid performances by Lauren and Natashia who entered the fray after a few minutes and both showed great skill and a determination to make an impact on the game.
Two goals from Ola and one from Keira ensured a win for the thirds by a single goal.
A good all-round performance from a group of players who had not played together before and it bodes well for the future of both the 3rd’s and 4th’s
