The Ladies 4s turned out for their second league match of the season to face Rushden and Higham on a drizzly Saturday morning in Wellingborough.
Kettering started strongly pushing up to the opponents goal and with most of the possession, but they could not score and the opposition rallied and started putting together some strong attacks which resulted in a number of corners and their first goal. A second soon followed but Kettering's unwavering defence, with an especially solid performance from Abbie Hofbauer, fought off any more goals before half time.
Rushden and Higham started strongly after the break and found Kettering's net twice in quick succession, one from a very hard corner strike. Kettering's fighting spirit was not broken and as the sun began shining we saw some excellent forward play with Orla Bednarcyzk making some, good runs down the right hand side to threaten the opposition but to no avail.
The game ended with Kettering losing by four goals but as always they left the pitch with their heads held high proud of their performance as a new team, beginning to learn to work together, and having done well against an organised and established team.
