Kettering 4s put in a strong team performance to dominate in a match against a skilful Oundle side and come out worthy 3-0 winners.
Despite Oundle moving the ball around well, Kettering were able to provide the greater part of the attacking play. Numerous chances on goal went agonisingly just wide before Anna Sigobodhla, pushing up from defence, drove down the right side of the pitch into the circle and fired home a beautifully angled shot to put Kettering in the lead. A further period of attacking play and some good passing in the D saw Lydia McCarrick put us 2-0 up at half time.
We knew that we could not be complacent as Oundle continued to present a threat, particularly down the left wing, so we were relieved when Jen Mason hit a fine strike from a penalty corner - only to be disappointed when the goal was disallowed! Kettering nevertheless continued to attack and Ola Bednarczyk was rewarded for her persistent efforts when she delivered a shot on target and sealed the win, a just reward for a team that had worked hard and pulled together throughout the game
