The ladies 4ths travelled to Moulton on a bitterly cold afternoon to face top of the table Saints 3rds.
As predicted Saints started strongly from the first pushback, but it was not all their way and Kettering showed determined defence and were able to put in some attacks of their own.
By half time however Saints were two up, both scored from penalty corners.
When the teams went back onto the pitch snow was falling and the icy wind was piercing and blowing into faces of the Kettering players. It was a challenging second half but the team showed great resilience and kept battling, with special credit to juniors Ola Bednarczyk and Katie Mitton who showed great maturity and positive attitude under the conditions. Saints continued their onslaught and managed to get five past Kettering in the second half, despite many excellent saves from Anna Pringle in goal who prevented us from an even heavier defeat.
We were all willing the final whistle to be blown to end a gruelling game with credit to both teams for continuing in the terrible conditions. Thawing out took some hours!
