Kettering Ladies Over 45s hosted Bretforton’s Over 45s in the quarter final of the England Hockey Over 45s tier 2 cup on Sunday. Kettering created the clearer chances in the first half but were unable to finish these off. Bretforton played well on the break and the contest looked liked it would finish 0-0 at half time. However with Linzi Webster green carded and off the pitch Bretforton used the player advantage to attack down the right and score a deflected shot to take the lead. The second half saw them double early on through a short corner leaving Kettering with a difficult task ahead. Kettering pushed higher up the pitch and put them under pressure. This resulted in Kettering getting a goal back when Shez Coe put the ball through the goal keepers legs. Kettering continued to push forward as a team, leaving Kate Metcalfe, in goal exposed at time. However she made a number of fine saves to keep Kettering in the game, but they were unable to get the second goal they needed. Kettering wish Bretforton all the best as they go on to play Sonning in the semi-final.
