Kettering Host First Match of the Season
A definite improvement through out the match.
With Wellingborough, Oundle and Towcester pulling out of the first tournament finding it too early in the season Kettering played against Market Harborough in a big match. This was the first time the Kettering players had played on half a pitch using many of the proper rules, so it was a big learning curve for them! They started off all following the ball and very cramped but slowly developed and started using all of the space on the pitch with some great runs and wide passes by Josh Kean, Charlotte Bennett, Ilana Jacobs and Cerys Davies. New player Cieran Goodison Wright scored Kettering's first goal but Harborough then got one back. Kettering continued to play well with some long runs by Jamie Wilkins ending with both Chiarra La Penna and Lucy Tanser scoring goals after Harborough equalled the score getting two more goals back. Elspbeth Bedwell and Molly McBride made some fab tackles to keep the possession. However in the final quarter when Kettering started to understand the game more they finalised the score line with Cieran scoring a second and Rose Starsmore-Young scoring the 5th for Kettering. Lots to practice but a good result from a challenging game.
