Both boys and girls qualify against difficult pools!

Kettering hosted this fantastic qualifying tournament.
Boys-
Kettering boys had to play with a bare 7 with no goalkeeper against both Northampton Saints and Long Buckby due to only two entries into the tournament. However they all played fantastically with the Kettering boys beating Long Buckby 2-1 with a very dominant performance! One fantastic goal came from some brilliant triangle hockey including a lovely ball towards the 'D' from James Kay which was put into the goal by Edward Perry. Kettering's midfield kept working hard to push the play forward including some lovely runs by Connor Norris of which he was supported by Josh Poole. These runs lead to another goal, which was scored by James Kay, and took us to 2-0 up. However Long Buckby came back with a late goal. In the second game Northampton Saints dominated the game resulting in a 6-0 defeat to Kettering however a number of goals were stopped on the line by James Martin who worked well in defence alongside other defender Josh Kean. Isaac Kean worked really hard to give Kettering a high attacker however Kettering struggled to get the ball to him. Due to Long Buckby's result against Saints Kettering go through to regionals in second place.

Girls-
Kettering Vs Saints lost 1-0, After conceding an early goal the team rallied together to dominate the rest of the game with some excellent defence from Lucy Tanser and Elspbeth Bedwell. The second half of the game saw some fantastic attacking runs from Poppy Smart.
Kettering Vs Market Harborough won 5-0, Jane Sigbodhla scored 2, Poppy Smart 1, Rose Starsemore-Young 1 and Jamila Valu 1. A great goal Scoring Fest where the team played lots of great attacking play which resulted in lots of great attacking play.
Kettering Vs Towcester 1-0 win, Molly McBride scored a fantastic crucial goal after some great attacking play. Illana Jacobs played solidly at the back with the support of Evie McGowen who was putting in some dynamic tackles changing defence into attacking opportuntities. Rose Starsemore-Young played well down the left alongside Jane Sigbodhla in the centre.
Due to there 5-0 win against Market Harborough the girls secured there place in the regionals going through in 1st place.

Many thanks to everyone who helped and volunteered today to make the tournament run smoothly including organisers, umpires, coaches, and parents!!
