The U10 Girls qualify for the Regional Finals!!
A great morning of hockey means that the girls are off to Beeston.
Kettering faced two games with the aims to become within the top to teams to reach the regional finals to be held at Beeston hockey club on Sunday 15th April. Firstly Kettering faced a strong Towcester team who they comfortably beat 3-0, this was down to some lovely running up the wings from Charlotte Bennett and Rose Starsmore-Young, and some strong play upfront from Lily Cockburn. Bea Alcorn also held the centre of the pitch very well, giving Kettering the ability to turn the ball over before Towcester reached our defensive half. The goals in this game came from Milly Brading, Rose Starsmore-Young and Layla Perkins.
Kettering then faced a nail biting second match against Northampton Saints, who they narrowly lost out to after losing 2-1. However Kettering played very well and improved on their defence throughout, some lovely tackles were made by Phoebe Leverett, who played a kicking back role. Holly Smith played in a wide position throughout constantly trying to increase the width of the pitch, this lead to some lovely balls through to Milly Brading who was playing as a forward. Kettering initially went 1-0 down however equalised through Bea Alcorn who took her chance with a shot after a lovely run down the right hand side, unfortunately Saints then scored again and Kettering didn't have enough time to pull back an equaliser.
The result of the final game between Towcester and Saints confirmed Kettering's qualifying place. The girls should be incredibly proud of what they achieved today, onwards and upwards to preparation for the next round!
