Kettering travelled to Ely City 3rd XI looking to continue their improvement demonstrated so far in their debut league season.
This was the day that youngster Dan Carter came into his own. Dan rounded off an impressive display involving boundless energy, direct running, rugged persistence and intelligent distribution with an overhead swatted goal that left defenders and attacking colleagues dumbfounded. It wasn't enough to avoid yet another away defeat but, with captain Justin Smith due back next week, there is room for optimism. As ever, the veteran Tony Heath twinkled in midfield, and Tim Plevin, on his second debut for the club, showed his worth with a solid display as an attacking right full back.
Next week, Kettering look forward to the visit of Cambridge South 5 with the chance of league points a realistic target.
