Opportunity to maintain 4th place is gone.

This was a bad day at the office for the men's 4th team. A less than sparkling performance where nothing would go right, goal chances were missed and a few defensive errors saw them slip to a 4-0 defeat aginst the Peterborough 7's.

The game started in fairly even fashion. Both teams attacking quite well and putting pressure on the goal. Peterborough just shading it with a couple more chances. The first goal came around the 15 minute mark when a well worked short corner routine was slotted home. The second came shortly after from open play where the greater movement of the Peterborough forwards began to tell and Kettering defense began to make mistakes. A couple of chances at the other end went begging, with shots going wide.

2-0 at half time, but the home side felt that they deserved to be getting something out of the game.

Peterborough continued to keep the pressure on straight from the whistle. They soon won another short corner from an errant foot in the D, which again was slotted home with some aplomb. Kettering tried to rally and fight. A few chances were created, but again no clear shots were on target to trouble the keeper. Finally Peterborough sealed the result with another goal fro open play when they managed to create an overload after a Kettering attack broke down. Alistair was left 2 on 1 and despite his valiant efforts to rush out and spread himself the ball managed to sneak under his body into the net.

4's are limping to the end of the season, all waiting for the break so they can rest their weary bodies. They now have nothing to play for, because with St Ives 4's managing to get a superb away win at Cambridge Nomads, they are 5 pts ahead with a game to play so 4th place is out of the question.

Next week 4's have a late match against St Ives 4's hoping to get a win to finish the season on a high note.
