Despite terrible traffic problems getting to Coventry Kettering started brightly and forced a couple of early openings. Coventry then started to dominate possession but struggled to create any meaningful chances. Kettering, although having the worst of possession actually looked more like scoring. Just before half time Scott Mulligan saw the first green card of the season, and whilst off then saw the first yellow of the season. The second half followed a similar pattern; Coventry possession with no finished product although veteran keeper Barry Coe was called upon to make on smart save to keep parity. With the game petering out to a nil nil draw a saved shot fell to 13 yr old Dom Cusk who picked his spot and hammered home the winner.
