Kettering came out on top 5-0 in the annual curtain raiser against their second team.
On a warm day both teams performed well, especially due to the lack of substitutes. The 2nds battled well but were on the back foot for long periods. The deadlock broken when Jack Bridges bundled the ball home. 2nds keeper Matt Coe made some terrific saves but goals from Ben Mills, a deft lob from Grant Carlin following some fine interplay, a Richard Lashbrooke reverse and Mark Hawkins tap in concluded the scoring.
The approach play of Dom Cusk was very promising as was the performances of young second readers Archie Colwill and James Hogg,
