Kettering overpower local rivals.

Fresh from their first win of the season against Saints 2s Kettering played another team from the East Midlands Premier with the same result. This week a strong looking Market Harborough side was brushed aside by Kettering. The scene was set early on a arch poacher Dom Cusk was on hand to finish from close range. Former Harborough tyro Pat Cawley was keen to make an impression against his old club and nabbed a brace either side of half time to finish off any home resistance. His first was fired down the centre of the goal and his second coolly finished following a fine move. Hard as he tried though the “pat-trick” wasn’t on today. Skipper Grant Carlin grabbed his first for the season with an unstoppable drag flick with five minutes to go. Harborough scored a consolation as Kettering eased off but the four goal cushion was restored when Jacques Lourens blasted home another short corner.
Kettering’s work rate was excellent again and they kept Harborough at arms length for long periods of the game forcing them to recycle possession with minimal forward progress.
A Monday night outing at a Rugby sees Kettering conclude their preseason season with next Saturday heralding the start of their league campaign in a East Division 2N. Bury St Edmunds are the first visitors to Bishop Stopford School as Kettering are hoping to get a win under their belt. Bury concluded their preparations with a 2-0 loss to Cambridge South, another 2N side in a friendly match that was, according to Twitter, not so friendly!
