Team starting to gel after midweek workout at Oundle
Kettering enjoyed the lions share of their midweek friendly at Oundle but could only take a share of the spoils. Behind early on Kettering gave themselves more work to do when the conceded a second just before the end of the first third. Despite dominating possession Kettering found it difficult to break down Oundle’s defence. It was only the tenacity of Lewis Pywell who hassled the veteran Oundle defender into an error and Powell’s pass was dispatched by James Hogg. Pat Cawley picked up his second green of the season. Kettering dominated long periods of possession but were unable to crack a defensively sound a Oundle. It took a short corner from new boy Jacques Lourens to tie the game. Kettering can be pleased with their evenings work as they started to put together some pleasing patterns of play. Kettering face Saints 2 on Saturday. It will be interesting how Kettering play against a team who will spend more time on the front foot than either Oundle or Westleigh. It’s an early morning 11 o’clock start on the water at Moulton.
