Atherstone Adders 0-3 Kettering
Return of the Lash
Now sing along to the new lyrics to the chorus of the Mark Morrison classic
(Return of the Lash) is it him?
(Return of the Lash) go on
(Return of the Lash) Oh my God
(You knew that I'll be back) here I am!,
(Return of the Lash) back again
(Return of the Lash) pump up the midfield
(Return of the Lash) watch me go (dribbling about)
(You knew that I'd be back) here I go!!
Kettering got their season on track with a convincing win against the Adders. Take nothing away from Kettering they had chances to win this game more comfortably and their professional approach was the death of the Adders. Kettering scored straight from the start as a quick free hit from influential Ben Mills found skipper Ant Paton in the D and his first time shot found the corner. Buoyed by this Kettering had a great chance to double their lead when youngster Lewis Pywell fired wide form close range but Pywell was on target moments later when he was on hand to finish a short corner. Paul Donnelly saw green just before half time for a deliberate foul but Kettering held firm in his absence. The second half saw Kettering invite Atherstone to attack but a brilliant counter attack saw a Mills through ball venomously finished by Andy Bull. Bull was denied a second through an umpiring misunderstanding after an Atherstone player had been yellowed and was being brought back on. Pywell had another fine chance to double his tally but fired wide. Kettering were delighted to welcome back Richard Lashbrooke after a long lay off. Mark Hawkins is re-available for selection after a suspension as Kettering host Mansfield next week.
