On a day of miserably wet weather Kettering made heavy weather of beating basement boys Long Buckby in a Northamptonshire derby. In constant rain Kettering broke down stubborn resistance when youngster Lewis Pywell fired into the roof following a Neil Freeman cross. Although Kettering created more chances they couldn't grab a second. The host came out firing on all cylinders and scored three in a ten minute blast. Skipper Ant Paton scored two either side of a goal by Ben Mills. Long Buckby got a consolation late on but by this time Kettering had taken their foot off the gas. Next week will see a sterner test when they host leaders Leicester Panthers.
