League leaders Leicester came to town and in the end were happy to settle for a point in a game where the host were very unlucky not to win. The game started cagily with Kettering hitting the post from a short corner. Struggling to gain any meaningful possession Kettering noticed that Panthers had 12 players on the field so their captain was duly yellow carded. Kettering were creating plenty of chances and Andy Bull had a couple of great opportunities but found the keeper instead. Ben mills eventually broke the deadlock with a short corner. A small flurry of green cards brought the half to an end. Kettering doubled their lead when an aerial by Mills found skipper Ant Paton in the D and his first touch enabled him to rifle home the second. This caused Panthers to become more agitated and the game became very scrappy as Ollie Smith, Richard Lashbrooke and Paul Donnelly departed to green cards. Panthers pulled a goal back from a well taken penalty stroke after Neil Freeman stopped the ball on the line with his arm. Donnelly then saw yellow for not retreating from a free hit. As the game became more fractious Panthers scored a second and looked favourites to go on and win. A huge melee with a minute to go saw a Panthers yellowed and Donnelly receive his second yellow. With time running out Panthers showed no ambition to win the game and were grateful to return with a point. Kettering see this a points dropped but can hopefully kick on next week when they travel to Derby.
