Kettering fought back from two very early goals to nearly grab a share of the spoils at Nottingham Players.
Playing on the international pitch at Beeston failed to initially inspire Kettering as they were two goals down within the first six minutes. Fearing the worse Kettering battled to keep the score at 2 and eventually settled into the game. Ollie Smith had to retire at half time with a broken foot that will keep him out of action for a few weeks. Undeterred Kettering's ten men set about closing the deficit and two Antony Paton short corner strikes in quick succession restored parity. This spurred Players to renew their efforts and as Kettering tired a close range goal completed the score line. Although losing Kettering felt by far the more pleased with the result and can look forward to having a big say in who eventually gets promoted from a very tight league. This week Kettering host leaders Newark.
