A much changed Kettering side travelled to high flying Panthers more in hope than expectation but when the saw the opposition players arriving just as the game kicked off the team sensed they may cause an upset. Kettering set up with a 4-1-4-1 formation with young Dom Cusk leading the line and not so young Paul Donnelly shielding the back four. After withstanding some early pressure Kettering got into the game and Jason Clarke had a great chance to score and Cusk saw his shot narrowly miss the top corner. Keeper Barry Coe had to be on his mettle and made a number of saves as the half finished scoreless. The second half followed a similar pattern but with Kettering temporarily down to ten players Panthers struck the decisive blow. The game became a bit tetchy as Panthers centre forward dabbled in the dark arts of hockey to the visitors annoyance. Another fine performance from Kettering despite the result and hopes are high for next week's home tie against Derby.
