With top scorer Mark Hawkins flag waving at the King Power others had to step up to take on the goal scoring mantle. The resolute Wellingborough back line held out stoicallly until late in the first half when a Grant Carlin cross found Dom Cusk to slot home. With Wellingborough looking unlikely to score Kettering knew a second might be enough and it was Cusk who was on the spot to hammer home the second early in the second half. With the result now settled Kettering could relax and Matt Hill put the result beyond doubt with his first senior goal at Kettering. It was only left to Carlin to score his regulation goal to put a gloss on the performance.
A win but not a really satisfying performance. Kettering remain top of 4NW and with Cambridge City beating St Ives they are now 4 points clear in the promotion places.
Mention must be made of the two umpires Berni and Barnaby who were the best "away" umpires we've had all season.
