Kettering roar to top of table.

Kettering started the second half of the league season with a resounding victory against league leaders Cambridge City. The early exchanges were even but Kettering broke the deadlock when Lewis Pywell fired home from a short corner. At this stage Kettering had Cambridge pegged back in their own half but Cambridge got a foothold in the game when a mistake from Graham Smart was seized upon to level the scores. Kettering were irresistible in the second half. Grant Carlin's short corner gave them the lead and his second virtually sealed the game. Pywell got his second and Carlin went on to complete his hat trick. Both teams were reduced to ten men at stages of the second half, Carlin being on the receiving end of a particularly crude challenge. Ollie Smith scored late on to make it 6-1 and Cambridge scored with virtually the last hit of the game for a consolation. This sets Kettering up nicely for the rest of the season as they take over top spot.
Cambridge were obviously disappointed to lose this top of the table clash and held a long debrief after the game. Much conversation related to the angle of the sun.
