Izzy Busy let's get Wizzy - as Sooty might have said
For the second week running Kettering faced a late start and came away with five goals for their troubles. A 3.30 start at a chilly Wisbech against the team rooted to the bottom of the table looked like an away banker but Wisbech stoically defended led by their inspirational keeper. It was starting to look like one of those days as Kettering peppered the hosts goal but it fell to skipper Ant Paton to break the deadlock with a deflected shot. Just before half time Grant Carlin made the game effectively secure. The second half saw the same pattern. An early Mark Hawkins goal really killed the tie and Hawkins went on to complete a brace and Ben Mills completed the scoring. Carlin in particular was on the receiving end of some rough treatment and the umpires did well to keep everyone on the pitch, Keeper Barry Coe was a complete spectator as Wisbech had no shot on target during the game. Kettering will be slightly disappointed with their execution at short corners but compared to last season grumbling over a 5-0 win is a bit of a novelty. Kettering get a week off next week before hosting Alford & District on 25th Feb.
