Kettering made to dig deep.
Kettering made the relatively long trip to Ely and returned home with all the points after a see saw game which the visitors should perhaps have won slightly more comfortably. Playing on a tricky, slippery surface Kettering initially gave their hosts far to much time on the ball. Ely broke the deadlock with a scrambled effort but Kettering hit back when Lewis Pywell
fired home. Kettering then started to dominate the game but against the run of play Ely scored and went into the break 2-1 up.
Kettering really stepped up in the second half and Ben Mills
equalised with a clinical short corner and Mills was on hand to give Kettering the lead with his second. A defensive slip gave Ely a chance with ten minutes to go but Mark Hawkins
popped up with five minutes to go to continue Kettering's 100% start to the season.
Next week Kettering travel to Spalding.
