Kettering slay Dragons

The two promoted teams from Div3NW last year came together for the first time since and Bourne Deeping Dragons proved no match for Kettering as the visitors took their unbeaten run to five games with a comfortable win that should have been more comfortable.
Kettering took the game to basement boys Bourne and were rewarded when James Hogg fired home. The lead was soon doubled when master poacher Dom Cusk diverted home a fierce Jacques Lourens drive into the D. This seemed to cause to ease off the gas but they were rocked slightly when a Ross Mathieson foot conceded a penalty but Barry Coe saved it. Coe was powerless minutes later when an initially saved short corner was fired home. This roused Kettering from their slumbers and in the final minutes of the half they scored two more through skipper Grant Carlin and Mike Crane who followed up his initially saved shot.
The second half saw Kettering lay siege to the Bourne goal, having two shots cleared off the line and Lewis Pywell hitting the bar but on the counter attack the hosts pulled a goal back. The half continued in the same fashion with Kettering eventually getting something for their efforts with a well worked short corner from Carlin.
This win takes Kettering up to 6th in the table and on the heels of the promotion pacesetters.
Next week Kettering host Cambridge South at Bishop Stopford School, 230 start.
